A Death Contemplation Meditation

A 15-minute meditation by Arthur Lee, produced by Koolam.

In the Theravadan Buddhist tradition, Death Contemplation, or maranasati, is used as a means to gain insight into the impermanent nature of life, reduce attachment to the physical world, and cultivate a deeper understanding of suffering and the cessation of suffering. In this meditation, we progressively release attachment to layers of our identity to contact our essential nature. In doing so, we may find that our assumptions and fears of death and dying are reduced, enabling us to live with greater joy, ease, and courage.
