Ep.28 — Devin | Finding Strength in Letting Go
Devin came to Enfold inspired by witnessing profound shifts in his wife, Caroline, after her own experience years earlier. Yet, despite her encouragement, it took Devin nearly three years to feel ready. “If I’m honest, I was fearful of what might come up for me. I didn’t know if I was ready to handle it.”
Life had presented Devin with ongoing challenges, including struggles with alcohol and workaholism. “Work was always a big part of my identity,” he recalls. But after a year of feeling stuck in repetitive routines, a timely conversation from Enfold’s Steve sparked a quick decision: “Everything aligned, and I said yes.”
Initially hesitant about joining an all-men’s group, Devin quickly discovered its profound impact. “Through that process, I’m so grateful to have done the men’s group. The conversations leading up to ceremony day were incredibly impactful.”
His pivotal moment came early, during his first ceremony. “I was like, ‘What did I get myself into? I don’t like this—I gotta get out,’” Devin remembers vividly. Yet, pressing forward brought him deeper into himself, leading to a powerful vision: “Inside myself, I witnessed this crystal of light, signifying that I am beautiful. That was profound because I’d feared what I’d find inside. Right away, I saw beauty and strength.”
The essence of Devin’s experience revolved around surrender. “After my first dose, I felt elated, then overwhelming fear hit me,” he recounts. Remembering advice from a friend, he embraced surrender fully. “I felt I was releasing decades of trauma stored in my body. It logically made no sense then, but now I understand what was happening.”
Today, Devin describes his ongoing experience as “relentless awareness.” Challenges no longer derail him. Instead, they offer a chance for presence: “I’ve never felt this level of presence before. Everything, even difficulties, feel okay now.”
Most significantly, Devin’s journey has transformed his relationships. “Coming out of the intensive felt like a rebirth—a clean slate,” he says. Shedding deep-seated shame allowed genuine openness with his family. “I could finally apologize without defensiveness. I could say, ‘I’m here for you,’ and mean it fully.”
For those considering Enfold, Devin’s advice is simple yet profound: “You’re in no better hands than Steve, Austin, Arthur, and the entire team. Truly let go and surrender. There’s no safer space in the world to do it.”
Reflecting on his path forward, Devin smiles: “This journey has just begun. Where it leads, I’m not sure, but I’m riding that wave.”
Devin’s story is for anyone who feels stuck and spiritually restless — quietly wondering if there’s more to life than just making it through.
